History of Gettysburg

WHERE THE BATTLE WASN'T
Civil War veterans were the first to homestead in Potter County, Dakota Territory in 1883. They founded the town of Gettysburg that year and named it after the famous Civil War battle in Pennsylvania. Today the two Gettysburgs are sister cities.
